Lamisil is one of the preferred medications to treat fungal infections according to most doctors. Medically termed as Terbinafine hydrochloride, it can be used as a tablet, cream and solution. The tablet is used to treat nail fungus of the toenail and the fingernail. The cream can be applied topically to treat fungal infections like Jock Itch, Ringworm and Athlete’s Foot. The solution is used to a fungal condition called ‘tinea versicolor’ that produces white or brown spots on the body.
Here is information on Lamisil dosage for various skin infections:
Tablet form
Fungal infection of the toenails: The usual dosage is 250mg once a day for 12 weeks.
Fungal infection of the fingernails: The dosage is 250mg once a day for six weeks.
Cream form
Jock Itch and Ringworm: Apply the Lamisil cream on the affected area and the surrounding area twice a day, till the symptoms go away. Doctors recommend patients to use the cream for a minimum period of seven days but one should not use the application for more than four weeks.

Athlete’s Foot: Use Lamisil cream twice a day for two weeks, if you are suffering from Athlete’s Foot on the soles of feet. Use Lamisil Cream twice a day for a period of one week, twice a day if you suffer Athlete’s Foot found between the toes. Do not use for a period exceeding 4 weeks.
Lamisil is prescribed to adults and children who are four years of age and older. Dosage is based mostly on body weight and on a uniform basis; treatment through this medication does not go beyond six weeks. The information given is of a general nature.
